Installation Instructions:
I really wanted to make this automated but haven't figured out yet how to do that. So...
1. Many computers come with java pre-installed so typing:
where java
into the command line may give you that information.
But if you don't have java installed on your computer, install it by going to:
After Java is installed you are ready to install editmagic.
2. Choose or make a directory to hold the product (for example: mkdir c:\myapps\editmagic)
3. Download all the modules into that directory using the buttons below (except use Bat for windows or SH for linux)
4. For linux, make the shell executable by typing: chmod +x editmagic.sh
5. For windows, edit the editmagic.bat module PATH=:
First try removing C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.8.0_65\bin\ in the path if your computer already has a system defined definition of where java is located, or, if that doesnt work (when you initiate the program below), change C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.8.0_65\bin\ to the location of your java jdk (it will most likely be a subdirectory of
C:\Program Files\Java ending with \bin\
or
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Oracle\Java\javapath\
6. Navigate to the directory containing editmagic with the following or similar command:
cd c:\myapps\editmagic
7. Initiate the program by opening a terminal window and typing:
editmagic (for windows)
./editmagic.sh (for linux)
The java program should pop up in a new window and you can navigate to the help screen with view->HELP!
Let me know if you have any problems or comments or compliments (see "Contact Me" at the bottom). All interesting questions will be responded to in the FAQ page.
When you click the buttons below, sometimes there is a blue "Download" button that pops up and in other cases look around near the top of the screen for a (small) downward pointing arrow.
